Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Sunday reacted to a video of Pakistani journalist Moeed Pirzada who heaped praises on the Indian lawmaker and took a jibe at Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto for doing a “monkey see, monkey do” over sending delegations across the globe.
After New Delhi announced to send an all-party delegation to various countries to brief about Operation Sindoor, Islamabad also decided to to send Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to lead its global peace mission in a copy cat move.

In the video, Pirzada drew a comparison between Tharoor and Bhutto. Heaping praises on Tharoor, he said that Tharoor is a foreign policy hawk who has worked in foreign policy and United Nations.
He further said that Tharoor, a self made man, has interacted with media from the foreign and has a lot of experience in the field. On the other hand, Bhutto has not struggled at all and is in politics because of his family.
Tharoor’s involvement with the United Nations spanned nearly three decades, from 1978 to 2007, during which he held various significant positions. His career began with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and he eventually rose to the rank of Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information. A notable period of his UN tenure involved his 2006 candidacy for Secretary-General. Although he was a strong contender, he finished second to Ban Ki-moon.
His experience within the UN provided him with a deep understanding of international relations and multilateral diplomacy, shaping his perspectives on global governance and the UN’s role in addressing contemporary challenges.
However, Bilawal Bhutto, son of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari, entered politics following his mother’s assassination in 2007, inheriting the chairmanship of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The Thiruvananthapuram MP would be leading one of the delegations of lawmakers which will visit the abroad and present India’s stance on Pakistan’s cross-border activities and its conduct during the military standoff after the Pahalgam terror attack.
A total of 59 Members of Parliament, former ministers, and leaders from across party lines, along with former diplomats, would visit 32 countries and the European Union.
On the other hand, Pakistan has announced plans to send Bilawal Bhutto to counter Indian delegation that includes Tharoor.
“I was contacted earlier today by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who requested that I lead a delegation to present Pakistan’s case for peace on the international stage. I am honoured to accept this responsibility and remain committed to serving Pakistan in these challenging times,” Bhutto said in a post on X.
As per the official announcement, the parliamentary delegation will have several prominent figures, including Dr Musadik Malik, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Sherry Rehman, and Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar.
Operation Sindoor
India launched “precision strikes” under Operation Sindoor on nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. The strikes killed at least 10 family members of JeM chief Masood Azhar and four close aides.
The sites targeted were the Pakistani bases at Rafiqui (Shorkot, Jhang), Murid (Chakwal), Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi) Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunian (Kasur). In the strikes, the air bases in Skardu, Bholari, Jacobabad and Sargodha suffered extensive damage.
