Unlike conventional museums, the Sunken Museum is India’s first underground museum. You may have explored many galleries before, but this one stands apart not just for its architecture, but for the way it draws visitors into history, both physically and emotionally.

The museum has been thoughtfully designed to help people connect more closely with India’s rich cultural and historical legacy. From ancient sculptures and coins to rare artefacts, every exhibit has been carefully curated and displayed in a way that brings the past to life. Its subterranean layout only adds to the sense of discovery and depth.

Not only that, but the museum houses artefacts dating back 2,500 years. As you step inside the museum, which is spread across approximately 300 acres within the Humayun’s Tomb complex, you’ll come across several large LED screens showcasing historical narratives.

There’s also a cafe where you can relax and enjoy refreshments, a library for deeper exploration, and even a meeting room and an auditorium that can seat up to 100 people.

Ticket And Timings

To reach the museum, first take the Delhi Metro and get off at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium station. From there, you can take an auto-rickshaw directly to Humayun’s Tomb. The museum is located within the tomb complex itself.

The entry fee for the museum is Rs 50. It remains open for around 3 to 4 hours daily, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
