Australia’s premier country music festival is up and running and already a “country cool” fashion theme looks to be emerging from the spectators and performers.
Jeans, T-shirts and cowboy hats are everywhere at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, which kicked off over the weekend and will run until next Sunday.
The classic country look of big buckled belts and boots is on display, but it is mixed in with a casual look one might find in any bar or pub across Australia on a lazy weekend.
In one photo, a man wears a black ACDC T-shirt, while his mate sports a cap, T-shirt and shorts cut off above the knees.
But even amid the casual cool vibe, the country influence dominates.
Wide-brimmed hats are the standout pick of the event, from classic Akubras to stylish Stetsons.
The spectacle, held annually in the town of Tamworth, about 410km north of Sydney, brings together Australians and international country stars.
The 2025 line-up includes eleven-time Golden Guitar Winner Beccy Cole and nine-time Golden Guitar Winner Adam Harvey alongside musical legends Lee Kernaghan OAM, John Williamson, Troy Cassar-Daley, Amber Lawrence, Kasey Chambers and Suzi Quatro.
The musicians perform at different locations across the town over the 10 days.
There is also a country music parade, whip cracking lessons and a rooster crowing competition.
The festival crescendos with the Golden Guitar Awards, which celebrates the best of Australian country music over the preceding 12 months.
