A teenaged fan of the Sydney Swans has been banned for two years from the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) — and issued a formal warning by NSW Police — following a incident involving Port Adelaide’s Aliir Aliir during the Sydney Swans v Port Adelaide game on Sunday.
The 16-year-old allegedly threw a cardboard clapper at Aliir during the fourth quarter of the game, when Aliir was by the boundary fence.
The heated argument between the two was quickly diffused, and the fan was spoken to by stadium security before being moved away from the boundary line.
Aliiar spoke to 7NEWS at the Adelaide airport on Monday, providing more information about his interaction with the teen.
“He just threw something at me, so I told him that sort of behaviour isn’t allowed,” he said.
“As a fan, you love going to the game, watching the game, but I think throwing stuff at players is a little bit over the line.
“If he told me I am a s*** player, that’s fine, that’s all a part of football, but when you start throwing stuff it’s a little bit different.”

Aliir didn’t want to comment on the Swan’s fan punishment.
NSW Police confirmed on Monday that the teenager was in fact 16 years old, after a man claiming to be the teenagers grandfather told 3AW that he was 13.
The Swans confirmed that the patron was removed by venue security staff and, in conjunction with NSW Police, spoke to the fan outside of the ground.
Venues NSW confirmed the teenager was issued a banning notice. That notice means he will be banned from the SCG for two years.
7NEWS.com.au understands the verbal altercation is not believed to be racially motivated.
