Two teenagers have been charged after a school was allegedly lit on fire on the NSW north coast.

Police allege the two boys broke into a school on Broughton St in West Kempsey between 2am and 5.30am on Sunday.

Officers will allege the boys, aged 13 and 14, entered a number of buildings on the grounds, stole items and damaged property.

Police were notified of the alleged incident shortly before 6am and located the boys nearby.

They were arrested and taken Kempsey police station where they were charged with aggravated break and enter.

The teens were also charged with committing a serious indictable offence, destroy damage property, and marking a premises.

They were granted bail to appear before a children’s court on February 5.

Police will allege the damage caused to the premises amounted to more than $30,000.
