Delhi may experience light showers on Monday, December 23. However, greater parts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana are likely to receive heavy showers on December 26 and 27.
According to forecasts by the Indian Meteorological Department, the several areas of North India will see rain and severe cold. Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab states will receive rains in the next few days, and that will heighten the cold conditions already being witnessed.
Rain and Cold Wave Alerts
Delhi may experience light showers on Monday, December 23. However, greater parts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana are likely to receive heavy showers on December 26 and 27. The IMD has warned this rain will cause a sharp drop in temperatures in areas such as Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh will witness a cold wave.
Changing Weather Patterns
A fresh Western Disturbance is expected to impact the western Himalayan region and surrounding plains with rain and changing weather conditions. On Monday, Delhi skies are likely to be partly cloudy, while on Tuesday, dense fog will develop, and a yellow alert has been issued for the day.
Rain in Other Regions
Coastal Andhra Pradesh, northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Rayalaseema had been pounded by heavy showers recently. The same is the case with parts of Odisha, coastal Gangetic West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya.
Himachal Pradesh Weather Update
In Himachal Pradesh, isolated rain is likely to occur on December 23, 24 and 27. Orange warning has been sounded for the districts like Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Mandi during the next 24 hours; the districts like Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu are sounded for yellow alert condition due to cold wave/frost in the region until December 25.
Residents in affected areas are being told to prepare for a drastic drop in temperatures and to be cautious during this period of weather change.
