A woman is dead and a man has been shot after an alleged gunman carjacked and crashed multiple vehicles on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The incident began on the Bruce Hwy at Palmview — near the Aussie World theme park — about 12.10pm on Monday when a red Porsche Macan crashed into other vehicles in the southbound lanes of the highway.
The driver of the Porsche then got out of the vehicle and approached a white SsangYong Rexton allegedly armed with a gun.
Police allege he then shot the driver of the SsangYong in the arm before stealing the car and fleeing the scene.
The two men are not believed to be known to each other.

Paramedics treated the man in the SsangYong at the scene before rushing him to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
A woman and man travelling in a third vehicle were also caught up in the chaos of the initial crash and were both taken to hospital.
The young woman suffered life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital, while the man remains in hospital with serious injuries.
The allegedly stolen Ssangyong was then found crashed about 10 minutes drive away near Forestry Rd in Landsborough just after 12.30pm.
Footage taken at the scene showed the Ssangyong flipped on its roof.

Queensland Police allege the gunman then stole a third car, a grey Mazda 3, from a family while a young driver was undergoing a driving lesson with their parents.
The man was arrested a short time later on Steve Irwin Way, and police allege a gun was found in the Mazda.
Three crime scenes have been declared by police, one in Palmview and two in Landsborough.
Police are investigating if the Red Porsche Macan was stolen.
The southbound lanes of the Bruce Hwy at Palmview have been closed as a result.
Drivers have been told to avoid the area.
