Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will operate 124 special buses from key locations across Hyderabad to facilitate travel for people attending the annual fish prasadam distribution for asthma patients at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally on June 8 and 9. 

According to a media release issued by the Greater Hyderabad Zone of TGSRTC, the special services will run from June 8 until traffic clearance is completed on June 9. The buses will display destination boards in Telugu, Urdu and English. 

Of the total, 44 buses will operate from major transit hubs, including Secunderabad Railway Station, Kacheguda Railway Station, Nampally Railway Station, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), Jubilee Bus Station (JBS), ECIL crossroads and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad, to the Exhibition Grounds.

Another 80 buses will be operated from important localities such as Dilsukhnagar, NGOs Colony, Midhani, Uppal, Charminar, Golconda, Ramanagar, Rajendranagar, Risala Bazar, ECIL crossroads, Patancheru, Jeedimetla, KPHB Colony and Gachibowli

TGSRTC said the number of buses could be increased depending on passenger demand. 

Traffic arrangements

The corporation said passengers travelling from Dilsukhnagar and Afzalgunj would be dropped near Gandhi Bhavan and proceed on foot to the Public Gardens area. Return services will operate via Gandhi Bhavan and Gruhakalpa.

Regular buses from Dilsukhnagar and Afzalgunj heading towards Nampally and beyond will also be diverted via Gandhi Bhavan during the event, it added. 

Help desks set up

TGSRTC said reception counters and public address systems would be set up at Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Nampally railway stations, MGBS, JBS and the Exhibition Grounds to assist visitors. Communication centres have also been established at JBS and Secunderabad Railway Station for public assistance. 

The annual fish prasadam distribution, organised by the Bathini family, attracts thousands of asthma patients and visitors from Telangana and other states every year. The event is held on the occasion of Mrigasira Karti, which marks the onset of the monsoon according to the traditional Telugu calendar.
