A group of four bears attacked two men who had gone into a forest to collect firewood in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district, leaving both seriously injured and one of them in critical condition.
The incident took place in the Tumdi Bahar village area of Nagri on Wednesday morning. The two men had gone into the forest to collect firewood when the bears suddenly attacked them.

According to the information available, three bears attacked Dinesh Negi (25), a resident of Arjuni village, leaving him critically injured. His companion, Madan Netam (20), was attacked by another bear.
Both men sustained serious injuries in the attack and were left bleeding at the spot. They were subsequently taken to the district hospital for treatment.
Doctors, after assessing Dinesh Negi’s condition, referred him to Raipur for further treatment. Madan Netam is also undergoing treatment for the injuries sustained in the attack.
The incident has triggered concern among villagers, with residents claiming that bear attacks have been increasing in the area. The latest attack has also heightened fear among people, with many now reluctant to venture into the forest.
The families of the injured persons have also sought compensation following the incident.
The attack has once again raised concerns over the safety of villagers who depend on nearby forests for firewood and other needs.
