A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Bhutan on Sunday, with tremors felt across parts of India, China, Bangladesh and Nepal, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

According to GFZ, the earthquake measured 5.6 in magnitude. There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.

Bhutan lies in the seismically active Himalayan region, where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates continue to collide, making earthquakes a recurring risk.

Authorities were assessing the situation, while residents across the region shared accounts of feeling the tremors. Further details on the impact of the earthquake were not immediately available.
