Singer Taylor Swift has announced that she has written and recorded an original song for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5. In a social media post, the singer said the track, titled I Knew It, I Knew You, will release on June 5, days before the film is set to hit theatres worldwide on June 19.
The announcement came after days of speculation among fans, who saw mysterious billboards in the US and UK featuring the initials “TS” in the iconic Toy Story font. Sharing the news, Swift wrote, “It’s a Toy Story. You knew it! My new original song I Knew It, I Knew You for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be yours on June 5th.”

In the same post, Swift said contributing to the franchise was a dream come true. Reflecting on her connection to the series, she said she had loved the films since childhood and was instantly inspired after getting an early look at the upcoming instalment.
“I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a five-year-old kid watching the first Toy Story movie,” she wrote.
The song was co-written with Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and, according to the singer, marks her return to country-inspired music. She said the track was inspired by Jessie, the franchise’s cowgirl character.
Director Andrew Stanton praised Swift’s contribution, saying her understanding of Jessie’s emotional journey was immediate and authentic. He added that the song felt like a natural part of the Toy Story universe from the very first listen.
I Knew It, I Knew You will be Swift’s first new music since the release of her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl.
Toy Story 5 is set to become Pixar’s 31st feature film.
