The Malkajgiri Commissionerate Police have registered cases against 46 spa centres following a large-scale inspection drive aimed at identifying establishments operating in violation of regulations.

Speaking at a press conference at the LB Nagar Commissioner’s Camp Office, police officials said the special operation was carried out across the Commissionerate limits with support from the Special Operations Team (SOT). A total of 113 spa centres were inspected during the drive.

According to the police, several establishments were found running without the required permissions and approvals. Inspecting teams also found enclosed “dark rooms” lacking transparent glass doors, which officials said violated prescribed safety norms. In a number of cases, spa centres were operating without proper display boards or business signage.

Authorities further noted that many centres were not maintaining customer identity records such as Aadhaar cards and driving licences. Investigators also found lapses in mandatory documentation, including customer registers, employee details, therapist records, attendance logs and other statutory records.

The highest number of inspections took place in the LB Nagar Zone, where 47 centres were checked and 17 cases were registered. In Uppal Zone, 30 establishments were inspected, resulting in 11 cases. Police inspected 17 centres in Malkajgiri Division-I and booked seven cases, while inspections of 19 centres in Malkajgiri Division-II (Cantonment) led to 11 cases.

Police said the cases have been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA) and other applicable laws. Further legal action is being initiated against the operators and managers of the establishments found violating norms.

The Commissionerate also advised commercial property owners to verify the credentials and activities of tenants before renting out premises for spa businesses, warning that those facilitating illegal operations could face legal consequences.

Police appealed to citizens to report any suspicious or unauthorised spa centre activities to the nearest police station or the Commissionerate helpline, assuring that the identity of informants would remain confidential.
