The University of Western Australia has maintained its position among the world’s best tertiary institutions and remains within the top 10 universities nationally under the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds ranking survey.
UWA was ranked seventh nationally and 77th globally under the new survey, while Curtin University climbed to 12th spot nationally and 189th in the world.
While Curtin’s spot on the national leaderboard was a slight climb – it placed 13th in 2025 – it slid down the global rankings, having placed 183rd last year.
Meanwhile, Murdoch University received a shoutout for having climbed the rankings every year since 2022, to sit at 422nd spot globally in the latest survey.

Tuesday’s rate pause may have come as a relief to many, but those looking to buy a home still need to earn $16,500 more than they did in January, when the minimum household income needed was $107,329.
The research also reveals the gap between the pace of WA’s house price growth and that in the eastern states has widened to a chasm, with Perth values rising to 25.8 per cent over the past year compared to Melbourne’s 0.5 per cent.
