Fremantle’s top pick Adam Sweid is set to shake off a knee injury picked up in Peel Thunder’s reserves loss, with the Dockers providing an update on the 18-year-old.
Taken with the Dockers’ top selection at pick No.25, Sweid was not sighted in the second half of the Thunder’s reserves clash against West Perth after suffering a knock on his knee.
However, director of performance Adam Beard said it was purely a contact injury that will mark him as a test for this week.
“He’s completed the flush run today, so he’ll also be a test to play for the weekend,” he said.
Fellow untired Docker Tobyn Murray failed to take the field at all for the Thunder’s 88-point demolition of West Perth after being withdrawn late with a calf complaint.
“Tobyn picked up a cork to the calf at training late last week; we scanned it, and it’s a small calf strain,” Beard said.
“He’ll be at test to play this weekend.
Luckless forward Sam Sturt, who was remarkably the only player from Fremantle’s 44-player squad on their injury list last week, is set for another stint on the sidelines having re-aggravated his calf on the eve of making a playing return.
“Unfortunately, Sam picked up another strain to the quad that he originally injured,” Beard said.
“That is unfortunately a setback for him, and we’ll establish timelines for his return in due course.”
