Influencer and model Nara Smith has revealed her two-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy since late last year.

The 24-year-old social media sensation is married to model Lucky Blue Smith, 28, and is known for her trad wife lifestyle, a term often used to describe influencers who share content about homemaking.

Smith announced the devastating news on TikTok and Instagram, where she has a combined following of more than 16M fans, but did not specify the current condition of Whimsy’s health.

“There is no easy way to say this or to talk about any of this, but late last year our daughter Whimsy got diagnosed with cancer,” she said.

The famous family took their second youngest daughter to an emergency department after discovering “something suspicious” on her body but were advised to see a paediatrician.

“I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment. I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mum’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer,” Smith continued.

“He calmly told us to take her to the closest children’s hospital and have them evaluate her further… and after a lot of X-rays, ultrasounds and finally a biopsy, they immediately called us and said that she had cancer.”

Unfortunately, the cancer had already spread, and little Whimsy needed to start chemotherapy “immediately”.

“Throughout all of this, I’ve been on a plethora of forums, social media, and also talked to parents and family in the hospital, and all of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me,” Smith said.

Smith, whose videos of cooking meals while wearing extravagant outfits have millions of views, said she wanted to share her daughter’s story to inspire or help others going through a health journey.

“We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort or even incentivise you to go get something checked out that you’ve been avoiding,” she said.

Unsurprisingly, Smith said navigating Whimsy’s cancer battle had been “really hard” and hadn’t been posting on social media as often.

“Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging and finding that balance is something that I struggle with on a daily basis,” she said.

“Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard, and all I can do is try my best and show up in all those areas in the best way I can.

“I hope by sharing this I can bring someone else a little bit of comfort and make you feel less alone in your journey and in whatever way that may be.”

Her friends and fans were heartbroken by the news, with Aussie mum Kellie Finlayson, who is living with stage four bowel cancer and is the wife of AFL star Jeremy Finlayson, saying she “cannot even imagine going through chemo as a child, or watching my child go through it, it’s so so sooooo hard.”

“Sharing is so brave, you’re for sure making someone else’s journey feel less scary.”

Perth influencer Em Davies said she was “so sorry”.

“Sending so much strength, love, everything ❤️‍🩹 no parent should ever have to face something like this.”

British singer Raye added: “My beautiful superwoman friend.”

Smith and Lucky Blue have four kids together: Rumble Honey, 5, Slim Easy, 4, Whimsy Lou, 2, and Fawnie Golden, 9 months.

Lucky also has a daughter, Gravity Blue, from a previous relationship with model Stormi Bree.
