Australia have been given a huge boost before the Women’s T20 World Cup final with their great allrounder Ellyse Perry being passed fit to play against England in the sell-out Lord’s showdown.

The 35-year-old star, who’d been a doubt with a quadricep ‘awareness’ scare, pulled up well after a couple of days in training, Australian captain Sophie Molineux reported at the toss on Sunday (Monday AEST).

Perry’s availability to shoot for a seventh T20 title in her 10th appearance at the event is terrific news for the team as she’s been in scintillating form, nominated along with three others for the player of the tournament award after winning three player-of-the-match gongs along the way.

It means Australia, like England unbeaten throughout the tournament, have plumped for an unchanged side, with no place for legspinner Alana King, who had tormented England during the Ashes series..

Molineux decided to put the hosts in to bat after winning the spin, explaining she hoped their bowlers would put pressure on the hosts early. England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt said she would have done the same.

Teams:

England: 1 Amy Jones (wkt), 2 Danni Wyatt-Hodge, 3 Nat Sciver-Brunt (capt), 4 Alice Capsey, 5 Heather Knight, 6 Freya Kemp, 7 Dani Gibson, 8 Charlie Dean, 9 Sophie Ecclestone, 10 Linsey Smith, 11 Lauren Bell

Australia: 1 Georgia Voll, 2 Beth Mooney (wkt), 3 Phoebe Litchfield, 4 Ellyse Perry, 5 Ashleigh Gardner, 6 Georgia Wareham, 7 Annabel Sutherland, 8 Nicola Carey, 9 Sophie Molineux (capt), 10 Kim Garth, 11 Lucy Hamilton.
