The Amarnath Yatra tests both faith and endurance every year. This year, amid thousands of pilgrims making the challenging climb, it is a woman with a prosthetic leg who has emerged as the face of resilience after a video of her trekking the Baltal route went viral.
The clip, shared on Instagram by Nehaa Bhatt, captures her carefully making her way along the rugged mountain trail using a wooden walking stick and a forearm crutch.

Dressed in a heavy jacket and carrying a bright smile, Bhatt is seen navigating the uneven terrain one step at a time as fellow pilgrims continue the ascent.
The Baltal route, known for being shorter but significantly steeper than the traditional Pahalgam route, is considered one of the more physically demanding paths to the Amarnath cave shrine. Despite the challenging conditions, Bhatt climbs steadily, never appearing to lose her composure or determination.
Walking just behind her is a companion who stays close throughout the trek, offering support whenever needed. Thanking him in the caption, Bhatt wrote, “Thank you, Chhote bhai, for helping me in during the yatra #amarnath yatra 2026.”

According to her social media profile, Bhatt lost her leg in a road accident in 2021. Her journey up the mountain with a prosthetic limb resonated with thousands online, with users applauding her resilience, courage and unwavering spirit.
The video also sparked conversations among viewers for another reason. While Bhatt chose to complete the demanding climb on foot despite her physical challenges, several able-bodied pilgrims seen in the same video were travelling on horses or in palanquins to reach the shrine.
As the Amarnath Yatra continues, Bhatt’s climb has emerged as one of its most inspiring moments. More than just documenting a pilgrimage, the video has become a powerful reminder that determination is not measured by physical limitations, but by the willingness to keep moving forward, one step at a time.
