Amid concerns over the safety measures on stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, its makers have clarified that contestants are provided with stringent safety protocols during filming. The statement comes after pictures and a video showing actor Gaurav Khanna with visible marks and injuries on his back went viral on social media, which he suffered during a stunt on the reality show.

The latest episode saw Gaurav Khanna, Vishal Aditya Singh, Shagun Sharma and Karan Wahi take on a dangerous stunt that left all four contestants injured.
After the pictures went viral, Deepak Dhar, CEO of Banijay, the production house that globally owns the rights to the original American format Fear Factor, maintained that Khatron Ke Khiladi is “not brutal at all”. He said that international-level safety procedures are followed during the shoot.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, “It’s not at all brutal. Well, there is an element of fear. It’s called Fear Factor for a reason. But this is a show that is in its 15th or 16th season now. We don’t do this in India. We do this in an international location where all the checks and balances, safety procedures and protocols are followed to the absolute maximum.”
Khanna’s Instagram Story featuring visible marks from rubber bullet injuries sparked reactions on social media, with several users describing the injuries as visibly painful.
In the episode, host Rohit Shetty introduced the ‘Fear Fanda’, which is assigned to contestants at risk of elimination. Contestants were then asked to nominate two members from their respective teams to perform the eviction stunt.
Khanna and Shagun Sharma were selected from the new batch, while Karan Wahi and Vishal Aditya Singh represented the old batch.
The stunt proved equally challenging for Sharma, who was seen in tears as she struggled with the pain. Fellow contestant Jasmin Bhasin came to her support, reassuring her that choosing to quit the task did not make her weak.
“By telling the poor girl that she’s acting like a child, she is not quitting to prove herself. This is a pain auction; she can give up,” Bhasin said.
She later urged Sharma not to push herself beyond her limits and risk sustaining a serious injury.
Apart from Gaurav Khanna, the show also features Avinash Mishra, Farrhana Bhat, Shagun Sharma, Avika Gor, Orhan Awatramani (Orry), Harsh Gujral, Jasmin Bhasin, Rubina Dilaik, Karan Wahi, Rithvik Dhanjani and Vishal Aditya Singh as contestants.
