The bullet is back.
Speedster Tayla Vlaeminck will take a major stride in her return to international cricket next month when she tours India with Australia A.
Vlaeminck has battled numerous injuries since her exciting arrival, most recently a shoulder injury sustained while diving in the field.
Nicknamed “The Bendigo Bullet” for her raw pace, Vlaeminck spent time this winter in England and is understood to be back reaching speeds of 120km/h.
Australia A will play three Twenty20s, three 50-over games and one four-day clash across three different venues.
Vlaeminck headlines a 15-strong squad that will be captained by Nic Faltum (T20s), Tahlia Wilson (one-dayers) and Rachel Trenaman (red-ball).
National selector Shawn Flegler was rapt to have the injury-plagued tearaway back in the Aussie camp.
“This tour presents the players with a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in subcontinental conditions and test themselves against strong international opposition,” Flegler said.
“Exposure to Indian conditions early in a player’s career is invaluable and those experiences provide an important foundation before they make the step up to international cricket.
“It’s great to have Tayla back in the green and gold and to have Darcie (Brown) back in action. Both bring invaluable international experience to the group, and having them alongside some of our younger players provides a great opportunity for those emerging cricketers to learn from two world-class fast bowlers while continuing their own development.”
