A rural farmstay which hosted a rave where a 40-year-old man tragically fell to his death has announced a closure with immediate effect.
Two weeks after father-of-two Trenton Ehrhorn died at the secret Rhythm of the Wild festival at Hidden Camp in Glenwood, the venue owners have confirmed its temporary shutdown.
Based in bushland between Maryborough and Gympie, Hidden Camp offers visitors an off grid, farm camping experience.
However, its owners confirmed on Friday that it will be closed until further notice, with all existing bookings to be cancelled and refunded.
Announcing the move on Facebook, the site owners attributed the closure with issues relating to “planning and development” – which they said could take several months.
“Effective today, we have closed Hidden Camp. This is temporary and we look forward to reopening once the planning and development approval process has occurred,” the statement reads.
“This is a major impact on our family. Hidden Camp isn’t just a business to us – it is our home, our livelihood, and something we’ve poured our hearts, savings and countless hours into.
“Unfortunately, this means Hidden Camp could remain closed for several months while this process runs its course.
“We know this is incredibly disappointing for everyone who had plans to visit, and it is devastating for our family.”
The statement adds that all its future bookings have been cancelled and full refunds would be issued through HipCamp.
It comes a fortnight after tragedy struck at an unlicensed rave being held on the site.
The heartbreaking incident saw New Zealander Mr Ehrhorn fall from the stage at the event and die as a result of his injuries.
Following the tragedy, the Hidden Camp owners said they were “deeply saddened” by the incident in a statement published on its Facebook page.
“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family and friends of the deceased, as well as everyone affected by the tragedy,” it read.
“We also recognise the impact this has had on our neighbours and the wider Glenwood community.”
A 33-year-old man from Burpengary was taken into police custody following the incident.
However, earlier this week, Queensland Police confirmed that no charges had been laid at this stage and investigations were still ongoing.
