Pierce Brosnan and his son are hoping to stage an art exhibition together.

The MobLand actor and 25-year-old Paris Brosnan – who he has with second wife Keely Shaye Smith – have always shared a love of painting and they are planning to put their work on display at prestigious international art fair Art Basel.

Pierce told The Sunday Times magazine: “Paris was born with an artistic streak. I’ve always had a studio where I painted and he would paint with me, our canvases set up beside each other. His work is so rich and nuanced. I try to pass on the importance of doing good things, of work ethic and discipline.”

Paris added: “One of our main ways of bonding is through painting. We’re hopefully going to exhibit our work at Art Basel together.

“I think he always had this vision of me being an artist or a thespian.”

Paris wants to continue studying art in order to step out of his father’s shadow and earn respect for his work.

He said: “I’ve got a film degree, but I do want to get my MFA in art so that my CV will be more respected. I’m so fortunate that I have my dad’s name but I want my art to carry its own weight.

“I absolutely need to acknowledge the privilege that comes with being my father’s son but then show up and do the work. He has told me to follow my heart. His number one rule is just to be kind to yourself and others.”

Paris has also dabbled in acting and Pierce, 73, would never have tried to dissuade him from following in his footsteps if being on the big screen is his “destiny”.

Pierce said: “When I was working on The Unholy Trinity in 2023, the director said he would love my sons to be in the film, so Paris and his brother Dylan jumped in and were cowboys. Paris had a great death scene and I could see then that he really revelled in being on camera.

“Consequently he has made a film now and he’s good. I told him if he wants to be an actor he must train and study, and he wants to do those things.

“I don’t allow myself or him to get tangled up in any tawdry suggestion that because I am his father he should not become an actor, if that is his destiny. If you have a passion and a desire to do the work, you must do it.”
