JSW MG Motor India is set to launch its new three-row electric SUV on August 26, expanding its EV portfolio with a model positioned above the Hector. Expected to be called the Hector Tomahawk, the upcoming SUV has been spotted completely undisguised in Pune, offering the clearest look yet at the production-spec model ahead of its debut.
The new electric SUV will be the first MG model in India to be based on the company’s new ADAPT architecture. While MG has not officially confirmed the production name, it has trademarked ‘Hector Tomahawk’ in India, making it a strong possibility for the upcoming seven-seater.

MG Hector Tomahawk design
The SUV gets a conventional and upright design rather than the futuristic styling seen on several new-generation EVs. At the front, slim LED daytime running lights stretch horizontally from the centrally positioned MG badge, while the main headlamps are housed lower down at the outer edges of the bumper.
The closed-off upper section and large lower air intake give the SUV a clear EV identity. The side profile features large alloy wheels, roof rails, conventional door handles and chunky black cladding around the wheel arches and lower sections of the doors.
The long wheelbase and extended rear overhang are particularly noticeable, while the large glasshouse and sizeable D-pillar help accommodate the three-row layout. At the rear, the SUV gets slim horizontal tail-lamps extending towards the sides.
MG Hector Tomahawk interior and features
MG has previously confirmed that the new SUV will have three rows of seating. Earlier teasers showed a beige-themed cabin, with the dashboard expected to follow a minimalist layout featuring digital displays for the driver and infotainment system.
While the complete equipment list will be revealed at launch, the SUV is expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate and wireless charging.
Other expected features include dual-zone automatic climate control with vents for all three rows, a 360-degree camera and an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite. Six airbags and an electronic parking brake are also likely to be offered.
MG Hector Tomahawk battery, range and performance
MG has not yet disclosed the India-spec powertrain specifications. However, the upcoming SUV is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560, which uses a 69.2kWh LFP battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing around 204bhp and 310Nm.
The global Wuling model has a claimed CLTC range of up to 530km. The India-spec MG SUV could use a similar battery and motor setup, although its final specifications and certified range will be announced at the launch.
The ADAPT architecture has been developed to support multiple powertrain options. MG is also expected to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the SUV at a later stage.
MG Hector Tomahawk expected price and rivals
The new seven-seater electric SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will sit above the Hector in MG’s India line-up and give the brand a presence in the growing three-row electric SUV segment.
Once launched, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV is expected to rival upcoming electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and Kia Carens Clavis EV.
