The announcement of Mohanlal’s Drishyam 4 has sent the internet into another round of jokes about Georgekutty and his infamous family cover-up. While fans are excited to see Mohanlal return as the resourceful family man, social media users are already exhausted by the prospect of another chapter in the murder case — with several joking that the easiest way to end the franchise is simply to arrest them all for confessing the murder.

For context, Drishyam’s story revolves around Georgekutty, his wife Rani and their daughters, whose lives are thrown into turmoil after Varun Prabhakar, the son of a senior police officer, dies following an altercation with the family. Georgekutty subsequently uses his knowledge of films and crime thrillers to construct an elaborate cover-up, creating an alibi that makes it extremely difficult for the police to establish what actually happened.
One of the most popular reactions imagined Varun’s skeleton speaking to the Georgekutty family, a nod to how long the case has remained unresolved. Another user tagged the Kerala Police, Mohanlal and Kerala Opposition Leader VD Satheesan while confessing to the murder, writing, “I killed that guy please arrest me.”
The joke was simple: if everyone confessed and got arrested, perhaps the Drishyam saga could finally come to an end.
Other users took the joke further. One hilariously described the franchise as falling under the “Pradhan Mantri Ajay Devgn Rozgar Yojana”, poking fun at the actor’s involvement in the Hindi Drishyam films and the seemingly endless expansion of the franchise.
“Just give up brah,” another user wrote, summing up the collective exhaustion surrounding the murder mystery.
One particularly dark joke involved the Kerala Police. “Have never supported extra judicial killing but @TheKeralaPolice just encounter Georgekutty and end this,” read another post, suggesting the authorities take the most drastic possible route to finally close the case.
And then there was the take on Varun’s fate. “Varun’s punishment was not being killed but being tormented for eternity by George Kutty/Jeethu Joseph,” a user wrote, referring to how the character’s death has continued to haunt the franchise even years later.
Here are some more reactions:
What is Drishyam 4 about?
Drishyam 4 is the upcoming fourth instalment in the Malayalam thriller franchise starring Mohanlal as Georgekutty. The announcement has revived interest in one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated crime thrillers, which began with Jeethu Joseph’s 2013 film Drishyam.
The sequel, Drishyam 2, released in 2021 and picked up the story years after the events of the first film. Georgekutty had managed to stay ahead of the police, but the investigation into Varun’s disappearance continued to cast a shadow over his family.
Earlier this year, Drishyam 3 hit theatres and made over Rs 100 crore globally. However, many criticised the story for being stretched thin.
The success of the Malayalam films also led to remakes in other languages, with Ajay Devgn headlining the Hindi adaptations. The franchise has since become one of the most recognisable Indian crime-thriller series.
With Drishyam 4 now on the horizon, fans are naturally curious about what new trouble Georgekutty could possibly find himself in — and whether the police will finally manage to outsmart him.
For now, however, social media appear to have a simpler solution: confess, get arrested and let Georgekutty finally get some peace.
