A man and his sister were arrested for allegedly posing as IAS officers and duping people of Rs 9.8 lakh by promising them government jobs in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashoknagar district, police said. The accused, Tripti Singh Rajput and her brother Sudhanshu Rajput, were arrested by Chanderi police.
The accused allegedly targeted people by claiming that Tripti was an Additional Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and the head of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. They allegedly promised government jobs with good salaries and demanded Rs 3 lakh per person, police said.

The people, who were later duped, handed over Rs 9.8 lakh in cash and their documents to the accused in Chanderi on April 7, 2025. They had promised to pay another Rs 2 lakh later.
The police action followed a complaint made by the duped people around three months ago. Acting on the direction of Ashoknagar SP Rajiv Mishra, the police laid a trap after instructing the victims to engage the accused in conversation and lure them back to Chanderi with the promise of new job candidates.
Tripti subsequently arrived in Chanderi, where police arrested her and her brother. Two of their alleged associates, Tanuj Baishya and Anjali Singh, have also been named in the case.
Police have recovered expensive mobile phones and a car from Tripti and taken the accused to their hideouts in Bhopal as part of the investigation.
