A little girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki had a simple request: A road to her house that did not turn into a stretch of potholes and water every time it rained. Her earnest appeal to the District Magistrate has now gone viral, prompting officials to act.
The video showed the young girl pointing towards the badly damaged road near her home and directly addressing Barabanki District Magistrate Ishank Pratap Singh. She was heard saying, “DM Uncle, please get the road to our house built. There are huge potholes, and they get filled with water.”

The video was recorded near Crystal Garden in the Kotwali Nagar area, where residents have been facing problems because of the condition of the road, particularly during the monsoon.
As she showed the road, the girl pointed out the large potholes along the stretch. With rainwater collecting inside them, the road had become difficult for residents to use. Her straightforward appeal, made without hesitation, soon began circulating widely on social media as people urged the authorities to address the issue.

The viral video eventually caught the attention of the district administration, with DM Ishank Pratap Singh taking cognisance of the complaint.
The DM directed the municipality to take up the road construction and ensure that the work was completed at the earliest. Officials said the road was being constructed in response to the girl’s appeal, with instructions issued to the executing agency to speed up the work.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gunjita Agarwal also confirmed that action had been initiated and said the road construction would be completed as soon as possible.
What began as a little girl speaking directly to “DM Uncle” about the road outside her home thus prompted an official response, with the administration moving to address an issue that had reportedly been troubling local residents for some time.
