Pakistan’s drone war on the western front intensified in 2025, with a total of 863 drone intrusions — nine incidents along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir and 854 along the IB in Punjab and Rajasthan — reported during the year, the Defence Ministry’s annual report for 2025-26 stated.
The Ministry of Defence’s annual report stated that the effective deployment of indigenous spoofers and jammers had significantly countered the drone threat along the western front.

During the period, 237 drones were brought down by Indian forces along the IB — five carrying war-like stores, 72 carrying narcotics and 160 without any payload, the ministry said in its year-end review statement.
The bulk of the intrusions were from Pakistan’s Punjab side and were used to drop heroin consignments and pistols and AK-series parts.
The BSF and Army’s anti-drone systems, including DRDO’s D4, indigenous jammers and LORROS cameras, accounted for most of the kills in the Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Sri Ganganagar sectors.
The ministry said the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir remained “firmly under control” due to the relentless efforts of the Indian Army, with a whole-of-nation approach leading to a reduction in violence, scaled-down protests and zero stone-pelting incidents.
The report also highlighted Operation Sindoor, under which India carried out precision missile strikes on May 7 against nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating at least 100 terrorists.
The strikes came in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, and led to a four-day conflict with Pakistan that ended on May 10 with an understanding reached through the hotline.
