A blaze in The Greek Club car park in South Brisbane shortly after 5pm will be investigated by the Fire Department on Wednesday morning.
The fire engulfed an external cold room in the club’s car park on Edmondstone Street on Tuesday, spewing black smoke over the suburb.
Firefighters arrived about 5.25pm and took several minutes to locate the source of the blaze.
The fire was contained by about 5.30pm, and extinguished 15 minutes later.
Emergency services did not think the fire caused structural damage to the main building, and while an ambulance was called, no one was injured.
The Fire Department and locals said the neighbouring buildings – including a childcare centre – had been evacuated before firefighters arrived.
Five fire crews attended the scene.
Police assisting the department closed Edmondstone Street, between Russell and Besant streets, on Tuesday evening.
A department spokeswoman said investigators would return on Wednesday to probe the source of the blaze.
