Wynonna Judd is “taking a break” from her actress sister Ashley Judd.
The 62-year-old country singer has admitted she’s not currently “connected” to her younger half-sibling but she’s adamant the rift is not permanent and they will be back in touch at some point in the future.
She told PEOPLE: “We’re taking a break, which all families can relate to. She’s doing her thing, and I’m doing mine.”
Wynonna insisted the pair will “absolutely” reconnect in the future. She added: “She just travels a lot. She’s always gone. It’s nothing specific.”
In the interview, the singer also opened up about her fractured relationship with her daughter Grace Kelley, 30, who has spent years battling drug addiction and is currently behind bars serving a 15-month jail sentence in Virginia.
The Judds star said: “I miss her. I miss her desperately, and I’ve missed out on a lot of years because of the drug addiction …
“I’ve spent half a million dollars on programs trying to do the right thing, trying to do the next right thing. And meth is a b****.
“It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and I just can’t believe it. …
“As a mother of an addict, I can tell you this: When the money stops, they usually cut you off because there’s no more money. And I’ve done everything I can do.”
Wynonna went on to insist she hopes her daughter finds “healing” and stops “blaming me”, adding: “She’s 30. There comes a point when you can’t blame anymore. You have to take a look at yourself.”
As well as experiencing troubles with her daughter and her sister, Wynonna has spent the last few years grieving the loss of her mother and country music partner Naomi Judd, who took her own life in 2022 at the age of 76.
After her death, Naomi’s widower Larry Strickland revealed the tragedy had brought Wynonna and Ashley closer.
He told PEOPLE magazine: “They were forced together. We all had to come together around this trauma, this tragic event. And it, of course, opened our eyes about how short life can be and how fleeting.
“Realising that we lost a wife and mother, it forced us to be together, whether we wanted to or not.”
