Hyderabad: On Thursday, October 8, Telangana’s Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs ( TG SAFE ) conducted raids at 12 manufacturing and retail locations selling pheni and khara, and suspended five establishments ‘ Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI ) licenses.
Attapur, Jiyaguda, Charminar, Begum Bazar, Moosarambagh, and Badangpet were the locations of audits.
Over conviction of quality and labelling violations, about 1,950 kg of pheni for Rs. 2.3 lakh were seized. For contamination tests, twelve examples were removed.
According to officials, violations included housefly infestations, filthy and unsanitary manufacturing facilities, gutka and plate chutney stains on walls, and poor personal hygiene among workers.
According to reports, oil was being reportedly used for frying several times, drains were empty without proper covers, and food items had been reportedly contaminated with gutka and dish masala packets.
Additionally, officials reported poor storage and documentation. One business was discovered carrying out manufacturing operations without a wholesale license.
After being discovered working in unsanitary conditions and without an Notified license, Anjani Foods and Peni Works in Jiyaguda were given the order to shut down activities. Six businesses received observes of cause of action.
