A pair of WA sporting icons will be in action alongside each other in local cricket on Saturday, with Adam Voges and David Mundy set to team up for East Fremantle.

The line-up graphic posted to social media by the South Metropolitan Cricket Association club for their season-opening One-Day E-grade clash with Kardinya Lakes included both Mundy, who has played for them regularly since his AFL retirement, and Voges.

The Perth Scorchers coach and WA cricket legend will be playing alongside his teenage son Xavier, who has also been selected in their 12-player side.

Voges earned his baggy green at 35-years-old after finding some of the best form of his career in its latter stages and went on to play 20 Test matches before retiring from the professional level in 2017.

Only months later, he was appointed as the coach of both WA in domestic cricket and the Scorchers and was at the helm throughout a golden run of 11 titles across all three formats.

He remains in charge of the Big Bash League side but stepped down from his State duties last year in order to pursue opportunities on the global Twenty20 circuit.

Mundy is Fremantle’s all-time games played record holder with 376 across his 18 seasons with the Dockers and was still playing at a high level when he retired in 2022.

Last year, he smashed 103 not out from only 49 balls to lead his cricket side to a win over Cannington Tigers.

East Fremantle also have plenty of big names in their first-grade side, including County Championship stalwart Jim Allenby, one-time Scorchers signing Haydan Morton and former West Coast ruckman Luke Strnadica.
