A first-year engineering student died and her sister was critically injured after a structure reportedly collapsed during Dandiya celebrations at MVSR Engineering College in Nadergul on Saturday.
Sona Narayan Das, an Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) student, died of her injuries. Her sister, Meena Narayan Das, is undergoing treatment at Pratyusha Hospital near Nadergul and is reportedly in critical condition.
Several other students were also reported injured. Initial information suggested that a lighting or lifting structure had collapsed, but its exact nature and the cause of the accident remain unclear.
