Actor Ranbir Kapoor sought blessings on the occasion of Mahasaptami at the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samity pandal in Mumbai on Saturday. Accompanying him was his close friend and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji.
Dressed in festive traditional attire, Ranbir opted for a silk embroidered maroon short kurta paired with cream wide-leg trousers, while Ayan wore a classic royal blue kurta with white pyjamas.
Inside the ornate pandal, Ranbir was seen bowing respectfully before the altar as the officiating priest applied a sacred red tilak to his forehead to bless him. In one of the pictures from the event, the actor stood barefoot with folded hands (namaste) directly in front of the grand 17-foot idol of Goddess Durga.
In one of the videos, Ayan was seen escorting Ranbir at the venue as the crowd cheered for him while the actor waved and blew flying kisses.
In another clip, Ranbir is seen smiling while shaking hands with people present at the pandal while also acknowledging the photographers.
The North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samity holds a deep personal significance for Ayan Mukerji, as the historic pandal was established by his grandfather, pioneer producer Sashadhar Mukherjee, along with other family members in 1948. Commonly known as the Mukherjee family Durga Puja, the samity is actively managed and organised by members of the extended family — including cousins Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Tanishaa Mukerji — making it a prominent festive gathering spot for the Hindi film fraternity every year.
Beyond their personal friendship, Ranbir and Ayan have maintained a professional collaboration spanning over a decade. Ayan directed Ranbir in his feature debut Wake Up Sid (2009) and the romantic drama Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). The two later collaborated on the fantasy action film Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022).
Meanwhile, Ranbir will next be seen in director Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. The upcoming film is based on sage Valmiki’s text Ramayan and features Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is set for a theatrical release on November 5, 2026.
