Former Disney child star Raven-Symoné has opened up about her regret to go ahead with breast surgery at the age of 15 after being pressured into having the procedure done.
The now 40-year-old actress, who rose to fame on The Cosby Show, said adults in her life growing up as a teenager insisted she have breast reduction surgery to book more acting roles.
Raven-Symoné said she regretted getting the boob job done simply because “I was too young”.
“I should have done it after puberty,” Raven-Symoné told the Allure Perspectives podcast about the first time she underwent the surgery on her breasts.
“I mean, they still look good, but it was hastily done. I wish I was stronger to say no.”
The That’s So Raven star said she never had a problem with her large breasts.
“Oh girl, I got into anything! I was first in line,” she said.
“Push these little babies up, they get you anywhere. These triple Ds were popping.”
The Dr Dolittle star said these days she has an improved relationship with her own skin, telling Allure she’s now about 80 per cent comfortable in her own body.
In December 2024, she reflected on her Tea Time with Raven and Miranda podcast on the pressure she felt to fit into a specific beauty standard.
“I went from a triple D all the way down to a B. Someone said I needed to do it in order to get a show,” she said, adding that her father also “suggested strongly” that she have the procedure done.
Raven-Symoné also shared that she decided to get liposuction at the same time in an attempt to quell discussions about her body size.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?’ And so, I got a twofer,” she said.
The Cheetah Girls actress said the surgery was not without complications.
She suffered a seizure when she awoke due to the anaesthesia, and said she still has scars on her breasts more than 20 years later.
