Brisbane Lions premiership player Sam Marshall has requested a trade to St Kilda.
St Kilda confirmed Marshall’s request on Thursday morning after he was long linked to a move to Moorabbin.
Marshall played in the 2025 premiership win over Geelong but has struggled for senior opportunities this year.
The 20-year-old was drafted as a Lions Academy prospect in 2024 with pick No.25 of the national draft.
Marshall is familiar with the bayside area, having moved to Melbourne to board at Melbourne Grammar and play Talent League with the Sandringham Dragons.
Several Victorian-based clubs wanted Marshall, but the lure of greater midfield opportunity at senior level led him to St Kilda.
St Kilda is building its brigade of young midfielders nicely, re-signing Hugo Garcia in the days before Marshall’s request.
The Saints will need to facilitate a deal with the Lions during next week’s trade period.
