“Port have been the far better side in this contest,” Ricciuto said on Kayo Sports.

But he was happy to see Darcy Fogarty follow his dropped mark by picking it up and snapping a goal.

The Crows showed they love to create momentum as they followed up his goal with Josh Rachele running into the forward pocket and sending a bouncing attempt towards goal and it bobbed up and through the middle.

He is all class.

The tackles have been fierce but the Power haven’t made the most of their chances in this opening term.

Jason Horne-Francis booted the opening goal but some of his teammates have missed other set shots.

The Crows aren’t getting too much forward success either as both defences put a stamp on the game.

Adelaide entered the 60th edition of their iconic Showdown rivalry with Port Adelaide as justifiably warm favourites.

But, as fans across the country can attest, anything can – and invariably does – happen in SA’s derby.

The Power are wearing a revised version of their iconic black-and-white prison bar jumper, honouring the “Invincibles” of 1914, who went through the local season undefeated before dismantling Carlton to be crowned Champions of Australia.

Taylor Walker and Zak Butters fronted the press on Tuesday with speculation rife that both will be playing a Showdown for the last time.

Crows great Tony Modra is continuing his recovery after suffering serious facial injuries in a truck crash, and he has spoken from this hospital bed via an audio message to fans.

Close friend and former teammate Mark Ricciuto played the audio message on Kayo Sports pre-game.

“He didn’t look the same and didn’t sound the same, but he was in good spirits,” Ricciuto told Kayo Sports.

“I can’t describe with the same words how much he said it hurt, but he did say that he now knows how Dean Kemp felt [when the former West Coast star copped that famous hit].”

Former Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley will be a biased commentator tonight as he expressed his love for his former side pre-game.

As Hinkley’s name continues to be connected to the Tasmania coaching job, he said he would have his time at Port again in a heartbeat, and he loved the pre-game build-up for Power games.

“I’d do it again in a heartbeat and I want to be a part of it again in some ways,” Hinkley said on Kayo Sports.

“This moment, this Port Adelaide team means so much to me and to be a part of it tonight, gee, I hope we get an upset.”

Crows coach Matthew Nicks plans to put a tag on Zac Butters tonight.

“Don’t be surprised if we put a tag on Butters tonight – a respect role around the ground,” Nicks told Kayo Sports pre-game.

Nicks is also excited to have key defenders Mark Keane and Josh Worrell back together, with Worrell coming back into the side.

Keane was among the Crows best in his return to the side last round.

“Last week showed what Keaney brings with ball in hand,” Nicks told Kayo Sports.

“Keane is back, and it is nice to have Worrell back tonight [too].”

When asked after the game if fatherhood had helped him settle and find his consistency, Collingwood star Jordan De Goey had a hilarious take.

“[It] could be that, or almost losing my job a couple of times, that always helps,” De Goey told Kayo Sports.

“I’m just enjoying everything. I’m definitely a bit older, a bit wiser but not as smart as I used to be.”

De Goey did have his young baby in his arms for the team song, which the Pies didn’t sing too fiercely as they had a number of children in there with their dads.

Collingwood stars Dan McStay and Lachie Schultz had what appeared to be a tense altercation at three-quarter-time on Saturday, but it did not stop the Magpies from delivering a 34-point win over Richmond that ensures they remain firmly in the finals hunt.

In cold and damp conditions, the Magpies balanced their win-loss ledger with their seventh victory of the season [and a draw], meaning a berth in the wildcard round is a distinct possibility.

However, it wasn’t all smiles for the Magpies, in particular for McStay, who appeared to have a tense moment with Schultz after the small forward grabbed the ex-Lion’s hand and pointed him to where the final team huddle was for the afternoon.

Collingwood acting skipper Nick Daicos feels like momentum is building around his Magpies following the win over Richmond.

“It’s a great win for us, that’s two weeks in a row for us, so we feel like we are building some momentum,” Daicos told Kayo Sports.

“We want to be fun to watch. We kicked 100 points again, it’s a step in the right direction and we brought the crowd into it.”

He likes what he sees from the forwards and the way his side snapped into action in the second term to take control of the match.
