Key forward Jess Hogan will be at Collingwood next season, with the Giants confirming an end to his six-year stint in western Sydney.

The 31-year-old will be moving on to his fourth club after a frustrating 2026 season where he managed just 12 goals from nine games, hampered by injuries including mid-season surgery on a middle finger fracture.

The Giants had already confirmed they would not be offering a contract to the 2024 Coleman medallist for next season.

“We’ve seen Jesse at his best in the orange and charcoal and know what he’s capable of when he’s able to play with consistency,” Giants footy boss Jason McCartney said of his departure last month.

“However, as we look ahead, we believe this is the right time for Jesse to pursue a new opportunity while we continue to shape our forward line for the years ahead.

“Again, we’re thankful for everything he gave our club, and we wish him all the best with what comes next.”

Hogan will be a boost to Collingwood’s otherwise undersized forward line, but it represents a big risk with Hogan struggling to stay on the park in recent seasons.

The Pies will have to trade for Hogan, though his asking price will be very little for an expected two-year deal at Collingwood.

“Jesse Hogan has decided to continue his career at Collingwood,” the Magpies confirmed in a statement.

“The Club look forward to welcoming him to the football club.”
