India’s bowling attack will be under the scanner when they take on West Indies in the third T20I at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday, with the hosts needing to find answers after their bowlers were taken apart in a record-breaking run chase in Ranchi.

With the series moving to a venue known for its flat pitches and short boundaries, India’s spinners, in particular, will have little margin for error. The challenge will not simply be to contain the opposition but to execute their plans consistently on a surface where even small mistakes can disappear into the stands.

The third T20I of the five-match series will be played on Sunday, October 11, with the toss scheduled for 6:30 PM IST. Live streaming of the India vs West Indies T20I series will be available on the JioHotstar app and website, while the matches will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network in India.

The second T20I in Ranchi saw 501 runs scored across the two innings, with West Indies chasing down India’s imposing 250-run target with more than an over to spare. The defeat once again raised questions about India’s ability to defend big totals, especially when the conditions favour aggressive batting.

SPINNERS UNDER PRESSURE

Indore is unlikely to offer India’s bowlers much respite. The venue’s batting-friendly conditions and short boundaries make it difficult to rely on defensive lines alone, placing greater emphasis on variations, accuracy and the ability to adapt when batters attack.

For India’s spinners, the contest will be about more than slowing the scoring rate. They will need to disrupt the batters’ rhythm, vary their pace and lengths, and make every delivery count. With dew also expected to become a factor later in the evening, gripping the ball could become increasingly difficult as the match progresses.

India’s fielding will also need to improve after a costly lapse in Ranchi. Mayank Yadav dropped Sherfane Rutherford at short fine leg when the left-hander was on 38 off 18 balls. Rutherford went on to smash 84 off 37 deliveries, sharing a decisive 120-run partnership with West Indies captain Shai Hope, who also played a major role in the chase.

The missed opportunity underlined how expensive mistakes can become in high-scoring T20 cricket. Against a West Indies side packed with power-hitters, India will need to take their chances and avoid giving the opposition a second life.

HOPE AND RUTHERFORD THREAT

Hope’s form remains a major concern for the hosts. The West Indies captain has scored two centuries on the tour, establishing himself as a key figure at the top of the order. His ability to combine control with aggressive strokeplay has helped the visitors match India’s batting firepower.

Rutherford has also made an impact, registering half-centuries in the first two matches of the series. His ability to clear the ropes with ease makes him particularly dangerous on a ground where the boundaries offer limited protection to the bowlers.

India will want more from Arshdeep Singh, who has conceded 79 runs across the first two matches while picking up just one wicket. Mayank, meanwhile, has shown that his pace can make an impact, taking three wickets in the previous game despite the expensive nature of the contest.

The West Indies have also found contributions from their bowling attack, with Roston Chase returning figures of 3/24 in Ranchi. Shamar Springer, who conceded 64 runs in his four overs, could come under pressure as the visitors consider their options.

INDIA LOOK FOR ANSWERS

India have reasons for optimism with the bat. Shreyas Iyer has rediscovered his touch, scoring an unbeaten 102 and following it up with a rapid 40 off 18 balls. Sanju Samson’s 82 off 41 deliveries in Ranchi has also strengthened his case, although it could leave Vaibhav Sooryavanshi waiting for an opportunity.

Coach Gautam Gambhir has indicated that India will continue to experiment with combinations, with Shivam Dube’s promotion to No. 4 in the previous match another example of that flexibility.

However, India’s batting strength cannot keep compensating for their struggles with the ball. On another surface expected to favour the batters, the focus will be on how effectively the bowling unit responds under pressure.

For India, the third T20I is an opportunity to address those concerns. On a ground where runs are likely to flow freely, disciplined execution, sharper fielding and smarter use of spin could prove decisive.

IND vs WI 3rd T20I: TEAM NEWS

India could look to add more firepower to their pace attack, with Shivam Dube’s effectiveness with the ball coming under scrutiny, particularly in a high-scoring contest. This could open the door for Nitish Kumar Reddy, whose seam-bowling ability would offer India another pace option while retaining depth in the batting order.

West Indies, meanwhile, could consider a change at the top, with Kamil Pooran yet to make a significant impact on the tour. Amir Jangoo could be an option to strengthen an already dangerous batting line-up that showed its firepower in the Ranchi run chase.

IND vs WI 3rd T20I: INDORE WEATHER FORECAST

Indore is expected to have clear skies during the third T20I between India and West Indies, with no rain forecast for the evening. The temperature is likely to be around 31 degrees Celsius at 6 PM before dropping to 28 degrees by 7 PM.

The weather is expected to stay clear throughout the match, with temperatures falling to around 26 degrees at 8 PM and 22 degrees by 11 PM. With no threat of rain, a full match is expected. However, dew could become a factor later in the evening, potentially making it harder for bowlers to grip the ball and for the team bowling second to defend its total.
