Amid the buzz surrounding the new season, Raina has also confirmed a major development for the show’s distribution. After weeks of speculation, on June 19, Samay shared that India’s Got Latent Season 2 will be released simultaneously on Netflix India and YouTube, marking a first-of-its-kind move for the hit series and significantly expanding its reach.
The news of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s appearance gained traction after a photo of the two actors from the show’s set surfaced online.
Their participation comes at a time when the duo is actively promoting their upcoming action thriller Alpha, making their appearance on India’s Got Latent Season 2 even more exciting for fans. The film is slated to hit the screens on July 3.
All about India’s Got Latent controversy
The controversy began after Ranveer made a remark on Samay’s India’s Got Latent that many viewers found offensive. He asked a contestant whether they would rather watch their parents have sex every day for the rest of their lives or join in once to make it stop forever. The clip went viral and triggered widespread backlash online.
Multiple FIRs were filed against Ranveer and the show’s producers, and the row also drew in Samay and other panellists. The National Commission for Women intervened, after which Ranveer submitted a written apology. The Supreme Court later granted him interim protection from arrest while also criticising the remarks as vulgar.
On Still Alive, Samay said the India’s Got Latent episode at the centre of the backlash had seen Ranveer asking the controversial parents-related question eight times during the recording. He said that when he watched the edit, he felt Ranveer had made several inappropriate remarks, so he left in one instance and removed the rest.
India’s Got Latent 2 is available for streaming on Netflix and YouTube from June 20 at 7 pm.
