Apple is rumoured to be working on a new set of AirPods for some time now with a big change – inbuilt cameras. Now a new clip has leaked that allegedly shows Apple’s camera AirPods before their expected launch. This gives us a first real look at what the company might have in store for the future of AirPods.
The video, shared by MacRumours, was found in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 release. In the clip, a person is shown wearing the purported camera AirPods. He then picks up a book and holds it up, so the camera can read the title. “With visual intelligence, your world becomes savable. See something you like? Just ask me to save it for later,” the narrator says.

Apple AirPods with cameras
While we can see the person wearing AirPods that look quite similar to what Apple already sells, the angle does not show us where the cameras are placed. The leak indicates that the cameras are meant to feed information to Visual Intelligence rather than function as standard photo or video cameras. It is likely that you may be able to ask Siri AI about your surroundings.
As per the report, another part of the demo shows that wearers could receive an alert if their hair is covering the AirPods. The message says, “To get the most accurate information about things in your environment, make sure AirPods are not covered.”
The device is said to have the codename B790. As per the report, macOS Tahoe 26.7 release contains multiple mentions of the B790 product, along with references to a long list of other unreleased Apple devices.
Apart from B790, Apple is also said to be working on another camera AirPods project with the codename B798.
Apple may launch camera AirPods with iPhone 18 Pro
Previous reports indicate that Apple may launch the camera AirPods before the end of this year, likely during its September event. While the company has not made any announcement just yet, we expect to see the iPhone 18 Pro series be launched next month, alongside the iPhone Fold. If the leaks are accurate, the AirPods with cameras may also be showcased at the event.
According to reports, the camera-equipped AirPods will likely cost more than the current AirPods Pro 3 that cost Rs 25,900 in India. It is possible that Apple may use the name “AirPods Ultra” for this device, instead of calling it AirPods Pro 4.
