An eraser, monarch butterfly and a cracked face are just some of the new emojis set to drop for Apple users in 2027.
Nine new emojis will join the keyboard in spring 2027 after winning approval from the Unicode Consortium, the non-profit organisation responsible for deciding which emojis become official.
The additions will form part of the Emoji 18.0 release, according to Jennifer Daniel, chair of Unicode’s emoji subcommittee, who confirmed that the new emojis would be made publicly available in September, according to USA TODAY.

While anyone can submit an emoji idea to the Unicode Consortium, only about 30 are approved each year. Public submissions for the latest round closed on July 31, with the organisation deciding which designs make the cut.
But many have been quick to highlight their disappointment with the new emojis.
“These are giving android,” one person said

“Eggplant walked so that the pickle could run,” they said.
The 2027 additions have sent the internet into a frenzy, with companies creating the emojis they wish existed.
The South Australian Government created emojis that resonant with South Australians like a frog cake and the Adelaide Popeye ferry, while Time Out Australia suggested an array of Aussie-inspired emojis including a swag, a bin chicken and a Vegemite jar.
