Actor Rakesh Bedi expressed shock over the firing incident involving Tiger Shroff, questioning why the young actor was targeted. Describing Tiger and his father, Jackie Shroff, as polite and non-controversial, Bedi said artists across fields, including actors, singers and dancers, were “soft targets” and called attention to their safety.

In an interview with India Today, the Dhurandhar actor said he did not know the alleged links being discussed in connection with the incident.

“I was more than surprised; I was shocked. It was the middle of the night yesterday. I was in Hyderabad for a function, came back quite late and switched on the TV to catch some headlines. That’s when I heard about this. I saw the news around 12:31 am and was completely taken aback for several reasons,” he said.

“First, I was shocked that something like this was happening in the industry again. Secondly, I was even more shocked because Jackie Shroff and Tiger Shroff have been such nice, non-controversial people. They have never been involved in any kind of controversy or made any untoward statements against anyone. They have been doing their work very honestly, nicely, politely and quietly for so many years,” he added.

Bedi also questioned why Tiger was targeted in the firing incident, describing him as a young, lovable person with a huge fan following among children.

“I kept wondering why anyone would threaten him. I have no idea about any links or whatever people are saying he has. People are saying he is doing, was doing or is supposed to do something, but I have no idea about that,” he added.

The 71-year-old actor said it was time for the government and law enforcement agencies to step in and address the security concerns after the attack. Calling actors, singers, dancers and other artists “soft targets”, he pointed out that personal security could only do so much, as artists needed to move around and continue working rather than remain guarded at all times.

“In any case, any artists, actors, singers, artists, and dancers, we are all soft targets.”

The firing incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday within the jurisdiction of Mumbai’s Juhu police station. According to preliminary police information, Tiger Shroff was leaving a private event when unidentified men opened multiple firing at his BMW.

The actor had played a football match earlier and was on his way home when the incident occurred. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg confirmed that Tiger had not sustained any bullet injuries. However, his driver and another man were injured in the firing.

Preliminary information suggested that three men arrived on a motorcycle. While two of them allegedly opened fire, the third remained on the bike. The assailants subsequently fled the scene.

Videos circulating online appeared to show one of the men firing several rounds, while another seemed to attempt to fire. Footage recorded after the incident showed Tiger moving towards the driver’s seat of his grey car before driving away.

The incident has sparked concerns over public safety in Mumbai, with members of the film industry calling for a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible.
