Australian musician G Flip has broken up with their American reality TV star partner Chrishell Stause after a four-year relationship.
Stause, 45, who appears on the Netflix real estate show Selling Sunset, announced the break-up with her 33-year-old partner in an emotional Instagram video on Tuesday morning (AEDT).
“I have a pretty humbling update to share with you guys, G and I are no longer together,” she said.
“We have agreed to treat this public separation with love and respect for each other. It’s not hard for me because I am in love with this person and I don’t have all the information and the reasons … I’m sure, like always, with time you get the lessons you’re meant to get and I know that will happen.
“ I’m going to heal and everything’s going to be fine and I’m definitely never doing this again,” Stause finished.
G Flip confirmed the split via a post on her Instagram account.
“After 4+ years Chrishell and I are no longer together. I will always love her. We will always share a special connection and I will cherish our memories together deeply,” she wrote.
“My head & heart are feeling very heavy right now, and I’m not able to talk but I want to thank you all for your support and appreciate you respecting our privacy at this difficult time.”
Melbourne-born performer G Flip, whose real name is Georgia Claire Flipo, met Stause at a Halloween party, hosted by fellow Australian star Tones and I in 2021, according to Vulture.
They married in Las Vegas in 2023 and just last year G Flip told this masthead’s Sunday Life magazine they were trying to start a family.
“We’ve been going through a rough time with the IVF process,” G Flip said. “We’ve been struggling with it, and though we don’t like talking too much about it because it ends up ruining our day, we acknowledge it. Queer couples are couples like anyone else.
“To anyone going through IVF or finding themselves on a rough road with bringing life into the world, we feel for you and we understand and we see you.”
G Flip first broke through after featuring on Triple J’s Unearthed segment in 2018, then released a debut album About Us in 2019, which garnered three ARIA nominations.
Their second album Drummer debuted at No.1 on the ARIA charts in 2023 and G Flip went on to win their first ARIA that year for Best Australian Live Act, followed by the 2024 Song of the Year for The Worst Person Alive.
They came out as non-binary in 2021, and discussed their identity with Sunday Life last year.
“A non-binary person is who I am – I don’t know how to be anything else. I use they/them pronouns and am very proud of that. I am in a queer relationship and have a beautiful wife. I write from experience and from the perspective of a non-binary queer person.
“When I was growing up, I didn’t have that representation. The backbone of my G Flip project is to be the person I never saw when I was younger. I want to make sure I am making art so that a queer kid somewhere in the world can see me online and feel they are like me.”
After meeting Stause, their relationship was kept largely under wraps, before Stause spoke about G Flip on a Selling Sunset reunion before video emerged of the pair kissing just a few weeks later in May 2022.
Although Stause had been dating real estate agent Jason Oppenheim at the time they met, they reportedly broke up in late 2021 over Stause’s desire to have children.
In June last year, amid G Flip and Stause’s attempts to get pregnant they renewed their wedding vows, hiring a castle in the Hollywood Hills for the event.
Next month G Flip heads to Australia for a series of shows across the country, both solo and as the support act for Robbie Williams’ stadium shows in Sydney and Melbourne.
