The Punch remains one of Tata Motors’ most important volume drivers and has strengthened its appeal with a significantly updated range. Available with petrol, CNG and electric powertrains, it caters to a wide spectrum of buyers, from first-time car owners to EV adopters.
The 2026 model has received a comprehensive feature upgrade, making it one of the most feature-packed offerings in the micro SUV segment. It now gets a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, a 360-degree HD surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror, cruise control, an integrated air purifier, follow-me-home headlamps and a premium eight-speaker audio system. Tata has also introduced 90-degree wide-opening doors to improve ingress and egress.
On the powertrain front, Tata has introduced a new 1.2-litre turbocharged iTurbo Revotron petrol engine that develops 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, the company claims it delivers a best-in-segment power-to-weight ratio and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 11.1 seconds.
The standard 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine continues to produce 88bhp and 115Nm, and is available with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT.
The Punch also continues with its 1.2-litre iCNG powertrain producing 73bhp and 103Nm, but now becomes India’s first SUV to pair twin-cylinder CNG technology with an AMT gearbox. The twin-cylinder layout also helps retain usable boot space, adding to the vehicle’s practicality.
Tata Punch.ev
The electric Punch is priced between Rs 9.69 lakh and Rs 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
To make EV ownership more accessible, Tata Motors is also offering the Punch.ev under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. Under this model, buyers can purchase the SUV at a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh, while paying a battery subscription fee of Rs 2.6 per kilometre.
The Punch.ev continues with a 30kWh battery pack offering an ARAI-certified range of 365km, while higher variants use a 40kWh battery paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 129bhp.
Charging remains one of the Punch.ev’s strengths. Using a 65kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent in just 26 minutes, while a 15-minute charge is claimed to deliver up to 135km of real-world driving range.
Adding further peace of mind for buyers, Tata Motors is also offering a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty with unlimited kilometres, addressing one of the biggest concerns surrounding long-term EV ownership.
With a broad choice of petrol, turbo-petrol, CNG and electric powertrains, competitive pricing, extensive feature additions and strong value proposition, the Punch has reinforced its position as one of India’s most versatile and successful passenger vehicles, a fact reflected in its chart-topping sales performance in June 2026.
