Bajaj Auto appears to be preparing its first adventure motorcycle, with a heavily camouflaged test mule recently spotted undergoing road tests. The motorcycle is expected to be part of the company’s plan to introduce several models in the 125cc-250cc segment and could mark Bajaj’s entry into the lightweight adventure and dual-sport category.
While Bajaj has long been associated with performance-oriented motorcycles through its Pulsar range and its partnerships with KTM and Triumph, the brand itself has never offered a purpose-built adventure tourer. The latest prototype suggests that could soon change.

Spy images reveal a motorcycle that appears to have been designed from the ground up with adventure riding in mind rather than being a simple derivative of an existing roadster. The test bike features a tall front profile, upright riding stance, long-travel suspension and a rally-inspired single-piece seat.
The overall silhouette is more reminiscent of lightweight dual-sport motorcycles than traditional touring-focused ADVs.
The fuel tank appears relatively narrow around the rider’s knees, which should improve comfort while standing during off-road riding. A compact tail section, high-mounted exhaust and luggage mounting provisions further reinforce its adventure-ready intent. The prototype was also seen fitted with a top box, indicating that touring capability is likely to be a key part of the package.
Wire-spoke wheels and off-road hardware
One of the standout features visible on the test mule is the use of wire-spoke wheels, likely 19-inch front and 17-inch rear configuration. This setup is commonly preferred by adventure motorcycles as it strikes a balance between highway stability and off-road capability.
The tyres fitted to the prototype also appear relatively narrow, suggesting that Bajaj is prioritising versatility over outright road-focused performance.
What engine could power it?
The biggest question surrounding the motorcycle remains its powertrain. Based on the proportions and visible engine components and tax benefits, the upcoming model is expected to sit below the 300cc mark.
Bajaj could utilise one of its existing air- or oil-cooled engines from the 150cc-250cc family to keep costs under control. The company could also borrow technology from KTM’s portfolio, particularly given the visual similarities between certain engine components and KTM’s modern single-cylinder platforms.
If Bajaj opts for a KTM-derived setup, the 249cc liquid-cooled engine used in the KTM 250 Adventure could be a possibility. However, a simpler air/oil-cooled motor paired with a five-speed gearbox appears more likely if the objective is to create an affordable, rugged machine aimed at a wider audience.
Features and positioning
Although the prototype remains heavily disguised, modern features such as LED lighting, a TFT instrument console, smartphone connectivity and navigation support are expected to be part of the package.
Once launched, the motorcycle is expected to take on the likes of the Hero Xpulse 200 and the recently introduced Hero Xpulse 210. Depending on its final engine specification and positioning, it could also compete with models such as the Suzuki V-Strom SX and Yezdi Adventure.
