The father in our house is usually very disciplined around desserts, but a deeply bronzed Basque-style cheesecake, with its cool creaminess and bittersweet, caramelised edges, is another matter entirely.
To brighten it for spring, I’ve paired it with dried figs steeped in sweet wine, along with slices of blood orange.
Both the cheesecake and compote can be made ahead, making this an ideal dessert for a family lunch or relaxed gathering.
