Beau Lamarre-Condon allegedly asked a friend, “What would you do if I told you I killed somebody?” before telling her he had broken into his ex-boyfriend’s home after their relationship ended, a jury has been told.
The former police officer allegedly disguised himself as an Uber Eats rider before murdering TV presenter Jesse Baird and his new partner Luke Davies at the journalist’s Paddington home in Sydney in February 2024.
He is arguing self-defence as he fights the murder allegations before a jury trial in the NSW Supreme Court.
Mr Baird briefly dated Mr Lamarre-Condon from late 2022 until April 2023, and again in September to November of that year.
A friend of Mr Lamarre-Condon, Georgia Cook, last week told the jury the former officer asked her, “What would you do if I told you I killed somebody?” following his first break-up with the TV presenter.
“One of the first things he said was, ‘What would you do if I told you I killed somebody?’ and I just froze, and he said ‘Would you help me hide the body?’,” she said.
When she said no, he allegedly laughed it off and told her “I didn’t do that, but I did do something crazy”.
He then allegedly told her he had been “watching Jesse” from outside his home, including watching him have sex with other men, and wore a black hoodie and used his mother’s car so Mr Baird wouldn’t recognise him.
Ms Cook said Mr Lamarre-Condon told her he had seen Mr Baird use a Polaroid camera he had bought him to take photographs with his friends as he watched over the back fence, before breaking into the home.
“He watched where Jesse left his key,” Ms Cook told the jury.
“Once Jesse and the friends had left … he went and got the key and unlocked the door, broke into the house.”
Ms Cook said the former officer allegedly stole the camera and ate Mr Baird’s Easter egg.
“He said there was something else that he did, but he didn’t tell me what it was,” she said.
Ms Cook’s evidence will continue on Monday.
