Finding a decent rental home in Bengaluru is already challenging. Finding a toilet in the balcony, however, is probably not something most house hunters expect. A viral Instagram video has left social media users stunned after two women touring a flat discovered a fully functional toilet installed right in the middle of the balcony.
A video shared on Instagram by a woman named Thrisha has gone viral after documenting a rather unusual discovery during a house tour. Accompanied by a friend, she was exploring a rental property when the visit took an unexpected turn.

The clip shows the two women walking through what appears to be a fairly ordinary house. Then comes the big reveal.
As they step onto the balcony, they are greeted not by potted plants, a drying rack, or a pleasant city view, but by a fully functional toilet sitting out in the open.
The disbelief on their faces says it all.
Adding to the suspense, the text overlay on the video reads, “Wait till you see what’s in the balcony,” before the camera pans to the now-famous fixture. Thrisha captioned the post simply: “So far house hunting in Bengaluru.”

The video quickly found an audience online, with viewers wondering what exactly had inspired the architectural decision.
“Bengaluru landlords are unlocking new levels every day,” one user joked.
Another quipped, “This is not a balcony, this is a bathroom with a view.”
Others imagined the practical realities of the setup. “Imagine enjoying morning tea next to this,” one commenter wrote, while another summed up the city’s rental struggle perfectly: “House hunting in Bengaluru needs emotional strength.”
As the clip continued to circulate, social media users couldn’t resist poking fun at the city’s notoriously competitive housing market. Some joked that the balcony toilet should be advertised as a premium feature thanks to its excellent ventilation and panoramic views.
While the property may not have been what the house hunters were looking for, it did achieve one thing: reminding everyone that in Bengaluru’s rental market, there is always room for innovation, even if that room happens to be a balcony.
