A mother of three has been remembered as “the nicest woman you’d ever meet” after being allegedly murdered in her Melbourne home.
Irish national Annmarie O’Reilly, 30, was found seriously injured inside her Ferntree Gully home shortly before 10am Friday.
Paramedics attempted CPR on the woman, but she died at the scene.
Patrick Stokes, 45, was arrested nearby and has since been charged with one count of murder.
He appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday evening via audio visual link, and has been remanded in custody to appear on February 23, 2027.
Police allege the pair were known to each other.
Online, Ms O’Reilly’s brother Jimmy expressed the shock of his sister’s alleged murder, describing her as the “nicest women you’d meet” and the “best mother to her kids”.
“May you get the best bed in Heaven my beautiful sister,” he wrote.
“Love you so much fly high.”
Loved ones from her home town in Ireland shared touching tributes to the mother of three.
“We are devastated to learn of the desperately sad news of the untimely death of Annmarie O’Reilly,” a tribute from the Kilkenny traveller community read.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her children, her parents, Ned and Bridget, her brothers and sisters, her extended family and her friends.”
One friend said it was “such a cruel and evil world we live in” and Ms O’Reilly “didn’t deserve that”.
“Watch over your three beautiful sons and family at this hard time thinking of ye all today,” they said.
