Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced financial assistance for the family of Bharat Tiwari and a government job for one of his family members, based on the interim findings of a judicial inquiry into his death during a police encounter in Bhojpur.
The decision comes as a judicial probe headed by retired Patna High Court judge Justice Vinod Kumar Sinha continues to examine the circumstances surrounding Tiwari’s death in the June 17 encounter.

According to the Bihar government, the financial assistance and government employment will be provided on the basis of the interim report submitted by the inquiry commission.
Justice Sinha has been leading the inquiry into the incident, during which the commission has recorded statements from Tiwari’s family members and other witnesses, besides examining evidence related to the encounter.

Announcing the relief, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the state government had decided to extend financial assistance to the bereaved family and provide a government job to one eligible family member in line with the interim findings of the judicial inquiry.
The circumstances surrounding Bharat Tiwari’s death have remained under scrutiny since the June 17 encounter in Bhojpur. While his family has alleged that the encounter was staged, the police have maintained that their actions were lawful and have stood by their version of the incident.
The judicial inquiry was constituted to independently examine the sequence of events and ascertain the facts surrounding the encounter. The commission is expected to submit its final findings after completing its examination of evidence and witness testimonies.
The government’s announcement is expected to provide interim relief to Tiwari’s family while the inquiry remains underway. Officials said any further action in the case would depend on the conclusions and recommendations contained in the final report of the judicial commission headed by Justice Vinod Kumar Sinha.
