A young child has been shot and is fighting for life in Sydney’s northwest.
Police were called to an address on Fairway Dr in Norwest after reports of a shooting about 5pm on Monday.
The boy, 11, had been shot in the face and neck, NSW Police confirmed.
“He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and will be taken to hospital in a serious condition for further treatment,” police said in a statement.
“Initial inquires indicate the shooting occurred inside the home.”
Police have established a crime scene and an investigation into the cause of the incident has commenced.
It is understood officers are examining whether the weapon was accidentally discharged.
Five other people who were in the home at the time of the shooting are uninjured.
